Here We Go!

Here We Go!

Hi:) I’m Laura - if you don’t know me, I’m a personal trainer living in Los Angeles. I started this blog for a few reasons. 1. I love what I do, and love to share my knowledge with others. Plus - I get asked tons of questions about fitness and nutrition, so why not put all my answers in one place? 2. I love to write. It’s been a passion of mine since I was younger. I went to grad school for journalism at USC, so I might as well make dad proud by (kind of) using that degree to build a website and write (Even though I know he’s always proud of me:). 3. I need a creative outlet. I love to cook and create new recipes, but I can’t carry around a spatula and oven mitt with me all the time. So, this is another way to explore my creativity through photography and writing; plus, I can document and share some of those recipes here as well.

I grew up in Atlanta and later a small (teeny) town outside of Atlanta with an older brother who likes me most of the time and the best parents a girl could ask for. I went to Florida State for undergrad (yes, it was everything you’re imagining) and moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream of being a journalist for Rolling Stone magazine. After graduating from USC, jobs were a little scarce and I worked in public relations and later opened an online clothing boutique for women’s fitness apparel. Eventually I realized that I was eating, sleeping and breathing  fitness and nutrition (let’s just say wellness) and decided to take the plunge into personal training. I was DYING to be hands on - talk to people, help people, experience people - instead of sitting behind a desk all day.

So here I am. Every morning I wake up (usually around 5am), eat breakfast, walk my (incredibly fit) English Bulldog Gus and train clients who I have tons of respect for. I workout with rigour because I want to become more experienced and polished for my clients through actively taking part in the exercises.

Hopefully something in this blog will be inspiring, helpful or just entertaining to you. Here we go!
